75-word bio

Haje (haje.me) found himself in the center of the venn diagram of "technology journalist," "serial founder" and "venture capital experience" and discovered that storytelling with a deep understanding of the audiences you are telling stories to is valuable to the startup ecosystem. These days, he writes the popular TechCrunch Pitch Deck Teardown series ( haje.pub/pdt ), and works as a pitch coach. He has helped hundreds of founders find their stories.

150-word bio

Haje (haje.me) did a journalism degree and swore he would never work in journalism. He broke that promise almost immediately, and spent the first part of his career as a journalist and TV producer in Norway, the UK, and the US. He founded his first startup by accident when he decided he wanted to do a Kickstarter campaign, and saw the company disintegrate when the second crowdfunding campaign imploded.

From there, he became an expert storyteller, helping startups find their voice. He writes the popular TechCrunch series Pitch Deck Teardown ( haje.pub/pdt ) where he snarkily breaks down pitch decks. He wrote a book about pitching, called Pitch Perfect (haje.me/book), and works as a pitch coach, where he offers confidential feedback on pitch decks ( haje.pub/pdt ), and more in-depth pitch coaching. He lives in Oakland, California, with a 3D printer, a laser cutter, and some hand tools. He occasionally fosters a cat or two.
